2021 ELECTIONS: Civil society activists rap PPDA on ballot paper deal
A section of members of the civil society organisations says the PPDA has no mandate in directing the electoral commission on who should print the ballot papers. They cite Article 62 of the constitution that it empowers the electoral commission to carry out its duties with total independence. This comes after the PPDA recommended that the EC did not follow all considerations in awarding a contract to the German firm to print the ballot papers. This follows a statement by the National Bureau for Non-Governmental Organisations urging the commission to retract the contract.
