IGAD: Data gaps hinder food security efforts
Members of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) report a lack of proper agricultural data to effectively monitor indicators that would support farmers in engaging in profitable production to address food security in the region. According to IGAD, while some member states can produce food that other countries rely on, the data needed to support farmers is inadequate. The Ministry of Agriculture is seeking intensified efforts to profile regional produce and farmer-based information to establish a sustainability mechanism for the Food Systems Resilience Program for Eastern and Southern Africa.
