Legal affairs committee MPs question MP Lumu’s motive
MPs on the Legal and Parliamentary Committee have today started scrutinizing the Administration of Parliament Amendment Bill 2024, which was referred to them yesterday. The lawmakers met with Richard Lumu, the Mityana South MP and the mover of the bill. Lumu insists that his controversial bill, which has been rejected by major opposition political parties, is intended to promote accountability and democracy among opposition MPs by electing their Leader of the Opposition.
However, the Leader of the Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi, says the bill has nothing to do with promoting democracy but is targeting him personally.
