Makerere staff insist strike will continue until their concerns are addressed
Makerere University staff, who began a strike on Tuesday to protest the institution's failure to harmonize their salaries despite government funds being released to all public universities for that purpose, have insisted that their strike will not end until their concerns are addressed. The striking staff says that while other public universities received salary adjustments, Makerere has not fulfilled its pledge to align staff pay. A meeting between their leaders and officials from the Ministry of Public Service failed to yield results.
