Mulago hospital needs UGX 2.5 billion for ICU operation
Mulago Specialized National Referral Hospital needs an additional 2.5 billion shillings to fully operationalize the Intensive Care Unit. The shortfall means that the ICU is operating at half capacity so far. The matter came to light during a meeting with Parliament's Public Accounts Committee today. The legislators spent the better part of their day meeting with the top leadership of Mulago Hospital. The visit was intended to establish how the hospital is working to provide services to Ugandans. The director of the hospital, Dr. Rosemary Byanyima, told the MPs that most of the issues raised are not new and are documented.
