Uncertainty over repeating students under New Lower Secondary Curriculum
Uncertainty surrounds how the Uganda National Examinations Board will handle students who failed under the Lower Secondary Curriculum and wish to repeat after the government indicated that it has no clear plan for them yet. Under the curriculum, continuous assessment at school accounts for 20 percent of the final grade, while the end-of-cycle examination contributes 80 percent. Educationists have offered several proposals, including allowing the students to retake only the failed subjects and have their continuous assessment scores maintained.
