A section of Members of Parliament have requested Deputy Speaker Thomas Tayebwa to provide an explanation regarding the dismissal of Nation Media Group Uganda, which includes outlets such as NTV, Daily Monitor, The East African, Spark TV, KFM, and Dembe FM. Although Tayebwa had assured the MPs he would discuss the matter with the Clerk to Parliament yesterday, today’s session concluded without a resolution on the media’s dismissal. Meanwhile, Susan Nsibirwa, the Managing Director of Nation Media Group Uganda, issued a press statement asserting that Parliament’s actions in blocking the media are unconstitutional. She also emphasized that these measures will not hinder the media house from performing their duties responsibly. More information will be provided soon.
