Traders in the Central Business District have resumed their protests, citing exorbitant taxation, especially the controversial weight tax system on textiles and garments. They are also concerned about increasing rental charges, the mandatory Electronic Fiscal Receipting and Invoicing System, and other liabilities such as fluctuating electricity fees, among other trade policies. They are now demanding that the government immediately halt taxation per kilo of garments, as well as the eviction of vendors from streets and entrances to shopping arcades, among other underlying issues.
