The Electoral Commission has upheld the rulings of three village tribunals in Bukedea District, which removed the names of three women who had aimed to challenge Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among for the Bukedea Woman Member of Parliament seat in the upcoming elections. The candidates were disqualified because they were not registered voters in the parishes of Korea, Malera, and Kotolut, respectively—contradicting electoral law, which mandates that aspirants must be registered residents of the areas where they seek nomination. The affected aspirants are FDC’s Susan Norma Otai, Hellen Odeke Akol, and NUP’s Marion Mercy Alupo. Joram Paul Ssonko has more and now reports.
