Failed presidential aspirants join conservative party

More than 20 former presidential aspirants who did not meet the Electoral Commission’s nomination criteria for the 2026 presidential race have expressed their support for Conservative Party candidate Joseph Elton Mabirizi. Welcoming the group, Conservative Party president John Ken Lukyamuzi, popularly known as “The Man,” criticized what he described as a threat to Uganda’s democracy. Meanwhile, Mabirizi, who was scheduled to campaign in Bugweri and Mayuge but did not attend the events, cited increasing injustices and favoritism in the current campaign process.
