Government moves to update environment regulations

The government, through the Ministry of Water and Environment, is currently reviewing the National Environment Policy that has been in effect since 1995. Commissioner David Okurut stated that the policy is no longer aligned with current environmental and developmental needs. Additionally, Okurut mentioned that the government is in the process of finalizing the Wetlands Bill, which is anticipated to be presented to the Cabinet in the near future. These updates were shared during the second National Dialogue on Wetlands.
