National Unity Platform presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi today campaigned in Kassanda and Mubende districts, criticizing the government for failing to direct revenues from the region’s gold mines into community development. He accused officials of diverting the proceeds for personal gain. Kyagulanyi also condemned the rising cases of land grabbing, which have left residents frustrated, and promised to put an end to the practice if elected president. His campaign was disrupted by clashes with police after he ignored their diversions, forcing him and his supporters to walk and later use boda bodas to reach his second rally in Mubende. Our reporter, David Ijjo, who is covering the NUP campaign trail, provides this update.
