In Kumi Municipality, a government crackdown on corruption has led to the arrest of three senior officials. The State Minister for Economic Monitoring, Beatrice Akello, ordered the arrests after uncovering a string of graft-related offenses during her routine inspection of government projects. Among those detained are the Human Resource Officer, the District Engineer, and a local SACCO Chairman, accused of recruiting ghost workers and extorting money from pensioners.
