:The incumbency disadvantage in Uganda’s politics

It has been stated before that an election is not just about voting day; it is a process that begins long before, culminating on the day when the electorate casts their ballot. Political scholars, however, argue that the current political landscape is biased towards the incumbents, leaving little room for challengers to make an impact. They point out that President Museveni takes advantage of every opportunity to start campaigning early, focusing on monitoring government programs nationwide, giving him an edge over his opponents, who are often limited in their mobilisation efforts.
