Dozens of people who were abducted by rebels of the Lord’s Resistance Army in northern Uganda have called for government support, saying they are in despair amid mounting social and economic challenges. The survivors, including former abductees and ex-combatants, number over 3,000 in Gulu District alone. They say they are living in abject poverty and are unable to fend for themselves, with some resorting to street life.
