As Kenyans mourn the death of Raila Odinga, the former Prime Minister of Kenya, who passed away on Wednesday, a group of youths is making quick money by selling tree branches to motorists, especially in eastern Kenya and parts of Kisumu, Odinga’s hometown. In Luo culture, mourners wave tree branches at funerals. Odinga was a Luo. Motorists traveling to and from Kenya are buying tree branches and hanging them on their vehicles as a sign of mourning.
