NIRA registers 2,889 civil marriages in one year

The National Identification and Registration Authority (NIRA) says it has registered 2,889 civil marriage couples in the year since it was entrusted with the responsibility, which was transferred from the Uganda Registration Services Bureau. NIRA’s Manager of Public Relations, Osborne Tushabe, said they are yet to release the list of churches that are authorized to conduct weddings to ensure that people have their official marriages from the right places.
