The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission chairperson, Tanga Odoi, says they are working round the clock to hold fresh elections after the party’s election disputes tribunal yesterday nullified the victory of Jacqueline Mbabazi, the wife of former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi, as the party’s flagbearer for the Western Region Older Persons’ parliamentary seat, citing widespread irregularities. The tribunal, chaired by John Musiime, said the integrity of the poll had been “severely compromised,” and gave the party’s electoral tribunal a fortnight to conduct another election.
