Uganda's efforts to combat counterfeits | MorningAtNTV
According to the Uganda National Bureau of Standards (UNBS), 58% of products on the market are either fake or counterfeit, and sadly, many of these are locally made. Tens of thousands of brands have been impacted not only through the theft of sales and the dilution of hard-fought reputations but also through consumer confusion. Counterfeits cut across sectors and pose serious health and safety risks, inhibiting Uganda’s economic growth as potential investors defer from doing business in a nation where they believe that their products will be widely forged.
