Minister warns of fake investors
The Minister for Water and Environment has warned farmers and landowners about the rising trend of fraudulent investors pretending to offer carbon credit deals to smallholder farmers. These scammers promise billions of shillings in exchange for land use but are only interested in exploiting farmers and acquiring land for free.
She also revealed that some members of Parliament are involved in the scheme, making false promises of large investments to their constituents through planting trees. This warning comes as Uganda marks Water and Environment Week.
