Infrastructure challenges delay launch of eastern Africa power pool
Despite the target of March 2025 for the launch of the Eastern Africa Power Pool—a regional power market expected to promote electricity trading—the initiative remains a distant reality. This comes at a time when some member states are generating more power than they can consume. According to Okaasai Opolot, the Minister of State for Energy, the key limitation is infrastructure.
