Uganda faces tariff hike as U.S. trade deal deadline looms
The clock is ticking for Uganda to renegotiate a new trade deal with the United States or face a 10% tariff increase, following a directive from the Trump Administration. Presidential Assistant on Exports, Odrek Rwabwogo, says it’s time for Uganda to rethink its export strategy and explore alternative markets, particularly in Eastern Europe. Trade between Uganda and the US averages 238 million dollars annually, with Uganda exporting goods worth approximately 132 million dollars. Betty Ndagire reports.
