The head of Airtel Money Uganda says partnerships with credit rating agencies such as Gnugrid Credit Reference Bureau have supported the disbursement of 20 million dollars in microloans, funds extended to individuals in Uganda, and that the figure is still growing. He adds that e-mobility enterprises such as the Benin-based firm, Spiro, currently the most prominent e-bike company in Uganda, have been onboarded onto the pay-daily Airtel Money system, which will also add hundreds of jobs across the country. In Uganda, however, as in the majority of African countries, the industry is being held back by the lack of adequate charging station infrastructure and user perceptions on durability.
