Taxpayers’ money abuse shatters half-year budget
Abuse of public resources is still a grave issue, contradicting the overall objective of the national budget. For example, the budget continues to experience payroll-based
corruption, with over seven billion shillings lost to ghost workers and another 88 billion shillings lost to irregular and over payments, according to the Auditor General’s latest report. Now, the year 2024, just like the previous years, is closing with significant abuse of resources due to corruption. The only difference is that this time, the plunder of taxpayers's money has been cleverly “legitimized” in the budget.
