MPs question delay in swearing in Nalukoola
A section of opposition Members of Parliament has questioned why Parliament has not yet sworn in Kawempe North MP-elect Elias Nalukoola, despite an earlier precedent where MP Michael Mawanda was sworn in within 24 hours of winning.
In her defense, the Speaker of Parliament stated that she has yet to receive the gazette in which Nalukoola’s victory is officially recorded.
During today’s sitting, MPs also demanded government accountability for the brutality inflicted on Ugandans, including journalists, during the Kawempe North by-election.
