Ugandan farmers push for stronger laws amid ongoing trade challenges
Key stakeholders in Uganda's agricultural sector are calling for comprehensive laws to improve animal health standards and align the country’s farming practices with international requirements. In 2021, Kenya banned the importation of Ugandan eggs, citing the need to protect local farmers. Although the ban was lifted after diplomatic interventions, Uganda's fish and poultry farmers continue to struggle with unresolved policy and regulatory challenges.
