Parliament approves deployment of UPDF in South Sudan
Parliament has approved the government’s plan to deploy the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) in South Sudan. The deployment aims to protect bilateral interests, including trade and peace between the two countries.
Speaker Anita Among did not allow debate on the matter, stating that any missteps in submissions could destabilize the status quo, negatively impact trade, and affect Ugandans living in South Sudan.
