Buganda Caucus MPs Oppose extension of UCDA mandate
Members of Parliament from the Buganda Caucus have expressed their opposition to an agreement between President Museveni and MPs from three Parliamentary Committees, which extends the Uganda Coffee Development Authority's mandate for three more years without transferring it to the Ministry of Agriculture, Animal Industry, and Fisheries. They argue that the Ministry is incompetent in handling coffee-related matters. The MPs are calling on the government to withdraw the proposed amendment bill that seeks to dissolve the UCDA and have vowed to oppose it in Parliament. These remarks were made during a press conference at Parliament.
