GOV’T: All travelers must wear life jackets
In response to a rise in water transport accidents caused by eastern monsoon winds from July to October, the government has decreed that all boat passengers must wear life jackets. The state has also restricted water travel. Travel is now limited to between 6:30 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., with strict enforcement including the arrest of non-compliant boat owners and passengers.
