Laropi ferry overwhelmed by huge traffic
Two days after the reopening of the Karuma Bridge, vehicles at the Omi Landing Site in Adjumani District are still experiencing long delays as they wait to cross to Laropi in Moyo District.
Williams Anyama, the Moyo District Local Council Five Chairperson, says the situation has been worsened by the ferry operating on a single engine, which requires vehicles to reverse while docking.
According to Anyama, this issue is expected to worsen during the festive season, which typically sees heavier traffic as many people travel home for Christmas and New Year celebrations with their families.
