Judiciary boosts staffing by 49%, enhances access to justice
The Permanent Secretary to the Judiciary, Pius Bigirimana, says courts across the country are now better positioned to deliver timely justice to Ugandans, thanks to a 49.14% increase in staffing levels. Over the last five years, the judiciary has undergone significant transformation. Bigirimana attributes this progress to the dedication of hardworking teams within the judiciary. One of the department's most notable achievements during this period has been ending the reliance on rented court buildings. According to judiciary statistics, the government has constructed 12 court buildings in the past four years, including the Supreme Court and Court of Appeal buildings. Bigirimana shared these insights during an exclusive interview with our reporter, Malcolm Musiime.
