Ugandans in trouble as UAE amnesty runs out
Earlier this year, Ugandans living in the UAE with expired visas were encouraged to take advantage of the UAE's visa amnesty programme, which runs until October 31, 2024. The programme allows illegal residents to exit the UAE without paying fines or legalizing their status if they wish to stay.
Recent reports now indicate a visa crisis in Dubai, with new restrictions on visa issuance. Allegedly, over 2,000 individuals are believed to have overstayed in Dubai, which is affecting the processing of new visa applications.
