MEDICAL INTERNS DEPLOYMENT: Gov’t advised to get money through supplementary budget
The Uganda Medical Association (UMA) has called for the immediate allocation of supplementary funds to address the deployment of medical interns. Over 1,000 medical interns were not deployed, majorly due to a lack of enough funding. Ministry of Health says they need an addition of more than 18.8 billion shillings to absorb all the eligible interns but the cost excludes the cost of recruiting additional specialists to supervise interns.
