Private Sector companies join effort to extend agriculture services
With the Ministry of Agriculture facing a shortage of over 3,000 extension workers, the private sector has stepped in, offering hope through a new youth-led model that's already creating change in rural communities.
Over 600 young people have been trained and deployed as Commercial Community-Based Facilitators, delivering much-needed agricultural knowledge and services to farmers. Robert Ayang, the Country Director of Sasa-kawa Africa Association, says the focus is shifting from handouts to sustainable support, with plans underway to attract financiers to fund agricultural equipment.
