Wetland restoration in Rwampara sees success
In Rwampara District, wetland restoration efforts that began in 2019 are showing success, thanks to sensitisation campaigns led by the Ministry of Water and Environment and partners like WWF. Many locals who had encroached on wetlands—primarily for farming, brick-making, and other activities—have voluntarily vacated, recognizing the importance of protecting River Rwizi, which had been drying up due to environmental degradation.
