Uganda prioritizes energy efficiency to boost manufacturing sector

In a bid to boost Uganda’s manufacturing sector, which consumes over 70% of the national electricity supply and generates approximately 30% of our total tax revenue, the government is prioritizing energy efficiency. Speaking during the unveiling of UEDCL offices in Kampala, the State Minister for Energy, Okaasai Sidronius Opolot, said the challenges of power reliability and affordability faced by manufacturers will be addressed by the Energy Efficiency Bill, which aims to optimize electricity usage.
