Electoral Commission begins hearings on local government election petitions

The Electoral Commission has commenced hearings for petitions stemming from the ongoing nomination of candidates for Local Government Council Elections leading up to the 2026 polls. The process began on September 3rd with nominations for District/City Chairpersons, Lord Mayors, Councillors, and Special Interest Groups. Several disgruntled aspirants have filed complaints, prompting the establishment of a special desk at the Namuwongo head office to address these issues.
