As Uganda prepares for the 2026 general elections, the Electoral Commission officially opened nominations today. President Yoweri Museveni was the first to register at the Electoral Commission grounds, followed by Conservative Party flag bearer Elton Joseph Mabirizi and National Peasants Party candidate Robert Kasibante. The race is now officially underway, with only five aspirants cleared so far out of more than 30 hopefuls. The nomination process will continue tomorrow, which is also the final day for submissions.
