Kampala Lord Mayor Erias Lukwago has vowed to pursue all legal avenues to prevent Kiham Enterprises, a company owned by Kampala businessman Ham Kiggundu, from illegally constructing shops on the Nakivubo drainage channel.

Earlier today, officials from the Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) told the Parliament’s Public Accounts Committee on Commissions, Statutory Authorities, and State Enterprises that they were shocked to learn about Kiggundu’s project on the Nakivubo Channel.

In response, Lukwago delivered a petition to the National Environment Management Authority (NEMA), accusing its Executive Director, Barirega Akankwasah, of ignoring his earlier letters regarding the matter.
