Disqualified presidential aspirant blames EC for his woes

Only eight candidates were cleared this week by the Electoral Commission to contest in the 2026 presidential elections, down from the 220 people who initially expressed interest by picking nomination forms. Dr. Milton Muto, a research scientist, is one of the candidates who failed to qualify. He, however, says the Electoral Commission is increasingly making elections in Uganda untenable, adding that democracy has been reduced to a shadow of its promise.
