Analysing Non-Government Organisations Bill|MORNING AT NTV
Reviewing the Non-Governmental Organizations Bill, legislators have eliminated the Non-Governmental Organizations Board, transferring its oversight duties of NGOs back to the Ministry of Internal Affairs. This decision was reached during the debate on the NGO (Amendment) Bill, 2024, passed during the plenary session on Tuesday, April 23, 2024. Many within the government perceive NGOs as a challenge to their authority. This intergovernmental organization aims to combat money laundering, terrorist financing, and safeguard the global financial systems. To provide insight into this matter, we are joined by Sarah Bireete, Executive Director of the Centre for Constitutional Governance, and Ezra Ambasiize Rwashande, an advocate.
