Uganda targets 50% GDP from exports by 2040
Uganda aims to increase exports from 12% to 50% of GDP by 2040. This goal could be achieved if the country focuses on its trade efforts and eliminates key trade barriers. Vincent Waiswa Bagiire, the Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, notes that while Uganda has secured the Algerian market for milk in the region, important issues like product certification, especially for beef, need to be resolved to fully unlock Uganda's export potential.
