Apac leaders say the hospital is overwhelmed
A surge in the number of patients being admitted at Apac Hospital is overwhelming the management of the health facility. Apac Hospital which was built in 1968 receives more than 4,000 patients in the outpatient department every month. The patients come from Apac, Kole, Oyam and Kwania districts. The hospital which has a 100-bed capacity is grappling rising number of patients making some sleep on the floor in crowded wards. The maternity and children’s wards are the most affected. Dr Robinah Akello, the acting medical superintendent says malaria and diarrhea infections are very common.
