Sorghum grain supplies to UBL transforming lives
Sorghum farmers in Northern Uganda have to date collected up to 38 billion shillings, income from grain used as a raw material in the processing of beer by regional brewer Uganda Breweries Limited. Joseph Kawuuki the chief agronomist for the brewery, says this year alone prices have stabilised despite middlemen currently distorting the market. The brewery is currently supporting some 35000 farmers with seed and other inputs, which has resulted in an increase in yields of about per acre of 1.7 tonnes. We bring you a story of sorghum farmers who are educating their children in Universities across the country and their livelihoods are totally transformed.
