However, as time passed, the noble profession became synonymous with low pay and ridicule from the public. Many teachers who had upgraded immediately moved on to more profitable and respected careers. One teacher who stuck to his guns despite the negative environment is Dr. Henry Stanley Okia; his perseverance, along with that of a few others, seems to have paid off as they now reap the rewards of their hard work.
