How members of teachers’ SACCO will utilise UGX 20 billion
Teachers across Uganda face challenges of low pay and have been pleading with President Yoweri Museveni to provide them with funds through their SACCOs. They maintain that the funds will help support their business initiatives and improve their standard of living. Recently, the President responded to their call with 20 billion shillings, and the Uganda Liberal Teachers' Union received 6.6 billion shillings. The President General of the Uganda Liberal Teachers' Union, Evans Kaganizo Mutesasira, says the funds will be used to support teachers' enterprises so that members can rise out of poverty. Over 400 teachers who subscribe to this union are expected to benefit from this money.
