Kitana cooperative members protest election malpractice
A group of members from the 75-year-old Kitana Growers Cooperative Society in Hoima District is protesting the removal of their nominated members from a vetting committee and the sale of the cooperative's property by its leadership. The society, which had resumed activities after closing in 2000, claims that their nominations were replaced during a meeting from which they were excluded. Members are upset over the sale of assets, including 300 acres of land, and allegations of corrupt activities involving the leadership.
