Kyambogo University partners for hostel and sports complex development to boost funding
Kyambogo University has agreed to a public-private partnership to construct students’ hostels and a multi-purpose sports complex with a business center. according to the institution’s vice chancellor, prof. eli Katunguka, the two projects will help the university supplement the income they receive from the central government. the university's total budget currently stands at 104 billion shillings but the central government only contributes 67 billion shillings for salaries every financial year. the vice chancellor, prof. eli Katunguka says there is only a fraction of money left after this, to pay for infrastructure developments, including renovation of five halls of residence which are currently in a dilapidated state, hence the new agreement taking center-stage to alleviate this challenge.
