Out of 100 children, at least 25 are born with degenerative muscle disease
The Ministry of Health is calling for more awareness on Duchenne muscular dystrophy, an inherited degenerative muscle disease caused by mutations in the DMD gene. The disease, which often goes unnoticed, is reportedly on the rise, with at least 25 out of every 100 children affected. Around 250 children are currently receiving care, according to Dr. Moses Muwanga from the Ministry of Health.
