VP Alupo urges wetland protection on World Wetlands Day
During World Wetlands Day celebrations at Katerera Playground in Rubirizi District, Vice President Jessica Alupo, representing President Museveni, urged locals to actively protect wetlands, emphasizing their role in environmental conservation and encouraging value addition to these areas. Patrick Agaba, the district's Senior Environment Officer, highlighted ongoing challenges in wetland management. Meanwhile, State Minister for Environment Beatrice Atim Anywar acknowledged persistent encroachment despite government efforts and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to funding wetland protection initiatives.
